Chuck chuck chuck Chuck Chuck Chuck* the sound his axe echoed across the valley is he still chopped away at the large tree twisting and rising . out of the soil around him. He didn't want to take the entire tree down just take off excess branches so that he might be able to harvest from it again at a later date. He had to get enough wood before the sun started to go down so he could make it back to the small hole he'd dug earlier that morning. His only goal was to survive the night tomorrow would be another story. He was hungry but he wanted to save some of the raw meat he had just in case he couldn't find any more tomorrow. On his hike North from town it had seemed like he hadn't seen a single animal so he figured it was better safe than sorry. Hakuin had first heard of this magical Realm through a friend. So he decided to step into one of the large portals in town and go to the valley. So far north that you didn't see people hustling and bustling coming and going like you did in town. So far away that the only noises you heard was the occasional sheep baaaaaa*ing the day away. He figured he would be alone for a long time out here but he had no idea what would come in the following days. He felt like he had enough wood to last a little while maybe even get some burning in the oven he had inherited from his grandfather before he went on this journey. He got back to his home just as the sun got back to wherever it came from behind the Western mountains. In the distance he heard a terrifying low groaning and moaning. He assumed it was more of those zombies. The last time he saw them they were eating his family. But he... he was not going to let that happen to him. He quickly hopped down a little dirt hole and into a dimly lit Tavern turning around and plugging the entrance back up with dirt behind him. He turns and immediately showed some of the wood into stone oven starting it up carefully. He left the rest in his backpack along with the piece of raw meat that he had. Once the fire got going in the oven he placed the raw meat carefully into the oven enclosed it back up nearly drooling now from Hunger. But he knew it would be worth it once that baby was cooked to perfection. Suddenly he heard a frantic scream of a human outside... "Heeeeeelp!" The Voice cried it sounded like his brother but you knew that wasn't possible since his brother has been eaten by those... Zombies. "Help me Hakuin!!" He heard the voice cry again. Only this time it was crying his name it sounded like his brother who he knew could not be alive crying his name. He scrambled up and rushed over to his dirt entrance quickly mining away the dirt. The blocks disappeared and he was greeted with a cold Rush of Night Time air... " Siddhartha are you there?" He whispered out into the night... But he heard nothing. It must have been another one of his hallucinations. He has been having these since the incident occurred with his family 3 nights before. He took one last look at the Moon and closed back up the entrance to his small hole in the ground. His small but zombie-free whole containing nothing but his oven from his grandfather 1 torch and now a little bit of wood and raw meat. He said a prayer of thanks to the universe and closed his eyes curling up in a ball on the floor of his small dirt hole like just another animal in the Wasteland.
