At the moment, it seems like red sand is unobtainable on the Survival Multiplayer Server, though if you search hard enough in player ruins, you may find red sandstone since back in 2016-2017 players could craft red sandstone as an alternative craft to regular sandstone (both required four regular sand to craft either a sandstone or red sandstone block).
