Animals can despawn if an animal is able to walk 20 blocks in any direction, also supposedly animals in PoC can also despawn if you're 10 coordinates away from them for too long with no other players closer to them. Feeding an animal once might make the game ID-tag it as an undespawnable entity, but who knows.

animals like to suffocate on fences, gates, doors, cobble/mossy wall-fence blocks, and other non-full blocks. Though PoC animal AI is more improved than WoC animal AI, it has room for improvement, Lol.
yeah those are like 5% of sheep spawns. They're quite rare, especially since we don't have access to pink dye yet, making pink wool a very rare resource that has a risk of dying out from your access if the sheep dies.

Pato, get seeds and use bones and u actuall seem as a good person ! Just farm more... make a farm underground
I give 1 diamond for 3 of wheat or seeds and in future blocks of pink wool for the number of seeds and wheat delivered

For these things I do not like the animals farm in POC
yeah, that's an overlooked broken part of the game mechanics.
