Why don't you make a project to demolish the entire desert?
I've stopped out here a couple times. Not much work has been done, it seems. I agree, Desert biome would be a much better choice.
Deserts only bonus is Soul Sand and Emerald Ore. No big importance to either
The reason I chose to dig there is because I like the biome, I thought about the desert before starting but it gets kind of boring.
Maybe we could dig a giant hole around the spawn where people would have to build a bridge to get across
