So on both PoC and WoC, they have infamously had low render/view distances with a mandatory 2 render distance in WoC, and a range from 1-6 render distance on PoC, and on these games, it's often quite difficult to see much, especially if you make a large-scale project on the games.
My suggestion is to increase the maximum view distance options, the options for render distance 1-6 can still exist for low-end devices, and it's even alright if a low number remains the starting default option, but add the options for render distance values such as 10 chunks, 16 chunks, or 20 chunks (a similar render distance to MineCraft's), though probably cap out render distance values at around 25 or 30 chunks.
I'm aware that larger render distances can lag out lower-end devices, but there still would be options for lower render distances for them and the default render distance that you get after installing would be a low render distance value as well, so a player would have to intentionally increase their render distance themselves for the high number values to even start being a lag problem.
I'm also aware that there is likely a slightly higher chance that you might spot someone's base if your render distance is at a higher amount, but it wouldn't be any different than if you were on a Survival Multiplayer Server on MineCraft, since regular render distances on MineCraft are at render distance values much higher than PoC's, and many non-newbie PoC bases are typically underground anyways, so high render distance wouldn't be much of a problem there either.
This would be more of a quality of life improvement than anything.
That is true when I was making a Halloween map for the event contest I had trouble getting good angles because Every time I would back away The world would blurr out and you couldn't see the full build. Especially on the big statues that's why I always have to send 5 separate pictures for my builds the view distance isn't very large. I feel like it used to have a setting to increase it at some point although I feel that could be been a miss memmory since I checked and right now you can only video the view range not distance. I feel like their used to one for distance. It would be nice if they added a distance setting or just made it so In (creative modes) you have extra or better view distance than in survival since you need to be able to see your project better. After all I think survival modes world view is good the only problem is when your adventuring the chunks have a kinda bad load speed and make it seem like your walking into nothing often. Creative mode just needs better view distance so you can take better pictures of your builds.
Indeed, there used to be a view distance selecter option that allowed you to chose a render distance value ranged from 1-6, but at the time of making the suggestion, I forgot that since then the option was removed and now we have a single render distance value.
BlueTangs Rock3,Oh ok I knew I wasn't just dreaming that lol
.
Even though this post is over half a year old at this point, I decided that I'm going to bump this suggestion back into the recent posts list. I do still doubt that anyone at Solverlabs will see this though.
Yeah,my tablet lags out at 4,but I want it higher that that.
Im on a device that almost never lags out and it doesn't even have a good video card, it would be quite nice if i can put my card to use.
I keep mine at 6 it helps with archery especially when I'm on a high pillar and shooting at mobs from 32 blocks up and 21 out
I was told that PoC got rid of render distance 6 a while ago, is it actually still in the game?
BlueTangs Rock3, there are different options for different devices. Also for telephones there is no long distance, since it will not be noticeable on the phone. Here is a screenshot from the PC version of the game
Ooh ok. I wonder if I should get my old laptop out of mothballs... No, I really want to do this on my android again. They at least ought to use those old settings on Creative mode. One thing I hadn't seen before is the shadows under mobs. Well I don't need that either. My phone can definitely handle it without lagging. And I do have a large enough screen so long distance is very noticeable...
I couldn't say this any better, I 100% agree with this.
It is but most times it is laggy and I need to reset it
