I only find them in caves
I have the same problem it seems like I am finding many more emeralds than diamonds
On MineCraft,the best place to mine for diamonds is 12 blocks above bedrock. but Hakuin used to claim that if you go to bedrock,and mine out a 16×16×16 space,you'll find plenty of diamonds,and Hakuin was supposedly a Nazi clan member,wich they have tons of Diamond stuff,so I guess there's a second tip... I hope this helps you though.
