Apples: can be collected from smashing leaves, I'd go for spruce trees!

Tree saplings: smash leaves! ( they take forever to grow o.o)

Beetroot seeds: destroy grass/shrubs

Seeds: destroy grass/shrubs (once again these take a long long time to grow)

Carrots: you can get these from zombies! 

Blaze rods: zombies drop these!

Slime: hunt a blue slime!

Gold: you'll find this deep underground, USE AN IRON PICKAXE OR BETTER OR IT WILL BE LOST FOREVER

Diamonds: very rare and found underground (I suggest gold pick+)

Emeralds: uncommon and found underground (must use iron pick+)

Iron: found underground or in most caves, it's a common resource found round the map! (must use stone pick+)

Lava: this is found underground, so be careful when mining  it can be picked up with a bucket crafted from iron

Ingots from ores: smelt them in a furnace

Gunpowder: this is collected from those creepy robot spiders, kill them with a bow to get it making sure they don't explode

Arrows: either let a skeleton shoot at you and collect his arrows or find a flint from gravel and some sticks

Flint: at the moment I forget how I got this, collect it from monsters or mine gravel for it...

Melons/pumpkins/sugar cane: rarely found, sugar cane grows near water and pumpkins/melons are found on ground

Tips;

Diamonds and Emeralds are possibly the rarest resources in the map, mine them while you can!

Always carry water, if in water while a creeper explodes you don't get damaged!

Always mine a staircase as it has less chance of hitting lava and you falling!

Always carry food, sometimes animals are hard to find!

Stock up on wood if heading to the desert or 100:100+ as trees can be scarce there!

Never carry valuable resources you don't want to lose, make a safehouse deep underground with dirt on top of the entrance!
