Players are the only ones that can load an area, allowing redstone to function and mobs to operate. This means that a player must always have their auto farms in view distance to keep them running.
However, running an automatic farm isn't very practical for a few reasons:
- Players will disconnect automatically with inactivity
- Even with a proper setup to negate the automatic disconnect, whatever device that is running the player session, is constantly running the game, using device resources. This isn't very healthy for the player's device long-term.
- Not everyone has a spare device, meaning they wouldn't be able to play anywhere else besides where their farms are to keep them running.
The suggestion: Add a block that can keep a 3x3 chunk loaded without a player nearby.
- The block can cost ~6k coins in the shop, and this is the only place where it can be obtained.
- It won't be able to run forever. Similar to the chunk renting system, it requires coins daily to keep working.
- It can only be given 2 days of run time before needing to be refilled with coins. This is to prevent players with excess coins running a farm for 5 years continuously without further interaction.
- They have a hardness value similar to enchant tables, and only one can be placed in a chunk at a time.
- They can be viewed and toggled on or off from a menu similar to the home points or waypoints menu, but only refueled in person.
- Any chunk loader will be toggled off automatically if they lag the server too much.
I hope this suggestion is taken into consideration as it will greatly help the player base with the long chores. Thanks for reading!
